Take 3 sample testpieces from the fabric,
each testpiece measuring 25cm by 25cm. Weigh each testpiece and note the
weight (g).
(2)
Pour 500cc of hot water (402)
into a 500cc beaker.
(3)
lace each testpiece over a beaker, outer
surface face-up and secure it using two rubber bands to prevent water vapor
from escaping.
(4)
Place the beakers with the attached testpieces
in a temperature/humidity controlled chamber*1 maintained at 10,
60%RH.
(5)
Remove the beakers from the chamber after
1 hour and weigh each testpiece*2.
(6)
Use filter paper to absorb the condensed
water and weigh the testpiece.
(7)
Calculate the levels of condensation and
moisture absorption using these formulas:
where
W1: Pre-test weight of testpiece (g)
W2: Weight of testpiece after 1 hour
W3: Weight of testpiece after condensed water has been absorbed with filter
paper
S: Beaker opening area ()
Notes
*1
Do not place more than five beakers in
the chamber for each test in order to maintain correct testing conditions.
*2
Carefully remove rubber bands from each
beaker making sure that no condensed water drips from the testpiece and
condensed water does not spill.
